Statement from the Chief of Police

The West Chester Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. We are gathering evidence and working diligently to solve this crime. We have also increased patrols in and around our parks and neighborhoods. I commend the victim for their courage in reporting this incident, and I encourage everyone to exercise safe practices out in the community, which include: walking with others when possible, staying in well-lit areas when possible, carrying a cell phone, and being observant of their surroundings. To report any suspicious activity, please call 911.

On 10/13/2026, at 7:30 P.M., West Chester Police Officers took a report of an assault that had occurred shortly before 7:00 P.M. in the area of the 500 block of Dean St in West Chester, Pennsylvania.The female victim was walking on a trail in the area when she was approached and assaulted by an unknown male. The victim was able to push the male away and flee the location. The male is described as a Black male, dark complexion, in his early 20's, clean shaven, around 6 feet tall, with a skinny build, wearing a black durag on his head and gray/silver hooded jacket. The male was last seen running northbound, towards Everhart Park, on 10/13/2026, at 6:58 P.M. Anyone with information that may lead to identifying this male is asked to contact Officer West Chester Police Department at (610)-696-2700 referencing incident number WC-26-29110.
