The Parkesburg Police Department recently entered into a new partnership with the Octorara Area School District.  Starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, the Parkesburg Police Department will provide the school district with School Resource Officers (SROs).

These SROs will be assigned to cover the Octorara Area School District campus during normal school hours, with their primary responsibility being the safety and security of all students, and district staff.  The presence of uniformed officers on campus also allows for an enhanced relationship between our youth and law enforcement.  Officers assigned to the SRO position have received specialized training in order to prepare them for the needs of our students, helping to foster a positive school environment.

The board members of the Octorara Area School District, the Octorara Area School District’s Administration, and the Parkesburg Borough Council should be commended for placing the highest priority on the safety of our children and the staff of our schools.
