On Monday, February 2, 2026, at the monthly Atglen Borough Council Meeting, several officers were recognized for their actions taken during an event that occurred on January 6, 2026, in Atglen Borough. On that date, officers responded to a dispatched call of shots fired in the 400 block of Main Street. Responding officers entered an active scene and were able to successfully take the actor into custody. An extensive investigation was conducted resulting in the filing of multiple felony charges.
Atglen Borough Mayor Denim Kurtzhals praised the actions taken by the responding officers. On January 14, 2026, a statement regarding this incident was released by Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe stating "Residents should be proud of their police department. They responded to a dangerous incident and quickly arrested the defendant without incident, restoring safety to the community." The involved officers were each presented with a Certificate of Recognition and Commendation signed by Mayor Kurtzhals and Atglen Borough Council President Joshua Glick.
