President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation in 1962 that designated May 15th as "Peace Officers Memorial Day" and the week in which that date falls as "National Police Week." This week is a time for law enforcement officers, survivors, and citizens to remember and honor those law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Your support as a community member is crucial during this time. While many police officers would say that they never need to be thanked for doing their job, a police officer would love to hear your support this week above all others!
