UPDATE 07:49AM ---- The roadway has been treated and reopened.
The Warrington Township Police Department is advising motorists to avoid a section of Pennsylvania Route 611 following a multi-vehicle crash caused by extremely hazardous road conditions.
Officers were dispatched shortly before 7:00 am to Easton Road (Route 611) between Bristol Road and Kelly Road for a reported multi-vehicle accident with injuries. A second caller also reported possible black ice in the area. Upon arrival, officers found the northbound lanes of Route 611 completely frozen over for approximately 100 yards.
The crash involved four vehicles and resulted in at least two injuries. Both injured individuals were transported to Abington Hospital for treatment.
Warrington Police were assisted at the scene by Warrington Ambulance, Central Bucks Ambulance, and the Warrington Fire Company.
Northbound Route 611 is currently closed while the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) responds to treat the roadway. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes until conditions improve.
Drivers are reminded to exercise extreme caution during sudden temperature drops, as road surfaces can quickly become icy.
