We are fortunate to have Tinicum Township Community Park off Tohickon Valley Road as a beautiful space for families, walkers, and dog owners to enjoy. Unfortunately, we’ve recently seen an increase in littering and violations of pet regulations, including dogs off leash and animal waste not being properly retrieved and discarded. Used waste bags have also been found throughout the park.
Please be aware:
Tinicum Township Ordinance No. 244 — Park Regulations requires that animals in township parks be secured on a leash not exceeding six (6) feet and under control at all times. Owners are responsible for their animal’s conduct while in the park.
Under Pennsylvania Dog Law (3 P.S. § 459-305), dogs may not run at large and must be kept under control.
Pennsylvania’s Scattering Rubbish Law (18 Pa.C.S. § 6501) prohibits depositing or leaving waste, including animal waste or waste bags, on public property outside of proper receptacles.
Additionally, Tinicum Township Community Park is a carry-in, carry-out park. If a waste receptacle is not available, you are required to carry all trash out of the park and dispose of it properly elsewhere. Bagging waste and leaving it behind is still littering and violates state and local law.
Please remember:
Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times.
All animal waste must be immediately retrieved.
Waste must be disposed of in a proper receptacle or carried out with you.
Leaving bagged waste on the ground, along trails, or in wooded areas is unlawful.
These rules are in place to protect children, other park visitors, wildlife, and the environment. This park belongs to all of us. Let’s work together to keep it clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
Continued violations may result in increased enforcement.
Thank you for doing your part to protect our community space.
