7/8/24
At 1:44pm, officers responded to the CVS on Swamp Road for a retail theft not in progress. When the officers arrived, the complainant informed them that in the last 20 minutes an unknown individual walked down the aisle and grabbed about 10 bottles of hair products and placed them in his backpack and walked out of the store. The total for the items that were taken was over $370.00. Officers are reviewing the surveillance video. This case is still under investigation.
At 2:05pm, a Plumstead resident came into the station to file a fraud report. The complaint stated that when she received her bank statement there was unauthorized transactions in the amount of $5000 for gift cards purchased at Home Depot in Philadelphia. The officer provided the complainant an Identity theft and Victims right packet. This case is still under investigation as the officer is trying to obtain security footage.
7/10/24
At 9:21am, officers were dispatched to the Wawa on Easton Road for a retail theft that occurred earlier in the day. When officers arrived, the complainant showed a video of the theft to the officers and stated that he had rung up some items and placed the rest in the bag totaling $9.78 of unpurchased items. The complainant said that the individual was still on scene. Officers made contact with the suspect, who the officers were able to positively ID him from the video. Jelani Butler, 22, of Philadelphia was arrested, processed and released on a non-traffic citation.
At 7:51pm, officers responded to the area of Roseberry Drive for a fraud report. When officers arrived, they met with the complainant who stated that he was talking to an individual when he tried to purchase altered documents and paid him $800 for these documents. At some point during the conversation the unknown actor requested another $800 which was not paid. Officers were able to make contact with the unknown actor and hung up once he realized he was talking to the police. The officer provided the complainant with a Victims right packet.
7/11/24
At 7:19pm, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident in the area of Easton Road. When the officers arrived, they approached one of the drivers that was still seated in their vehicle. While talking to the driver they noticed that his motor skills were delayed and that he had slurred speech. The driver admitted taking extra medication. Officers arrested Richard Alpohnse, 51, of Dublin for Driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood results.
7/13/24
At 10:14pm, officers responded to the wawa on Easton Road for a report of a male armed with a hammer. When the officers arrived, they were met by the complainant who stated that the male hit 2 different cars with the hammer after being accused of stealing food from the suspect’s car. As the officer was talking, they witnessed the suspect approach another male. Officers were able to intervene and defuse the situation by separating the suspect and the other party. The suspect was identified and when the officers ran his name it came back that there was an active warrant. Officers arrested Steven Nelms, 53, of La Belle for Possession instrument of a crime, and the state warrant. Nelms was processed, arraigned and was handed over to the state probation officer.
