Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community remains Plumstead Township's highest priority. We are excited to welcome William Wiegman as our new full-time Fire Chief and Fire Marshal. Bill will help lead in the creation of the Plumstead Township Fire and Rescue Department, scheduled to begin operations in 2026.
The Fire Chief serves as the senior officer responsible for the leadership, management, and administration of the Plumstead Township Fire and Rescue Department. This includes overseeing the weekday daytime paid fire staff, coordinating with volunteer fire companies, and ensuring effective emergency response, fire prevention, and community safety programs.
Bill comes to the township with a wealth of emergency services experience, having served as the full-time paid Fire Chief of Montgomery Township, PA. He is experienced in leading a paid fire service, community risk reduction, and Emergency Management. He is a graduate of La Salle University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is currently working to obtain his Doctorate in Public Administration.
The newly formed fire department will provide comprehensive fire protection services, including rapid response to fire emergencies, critical medical assistance for high-priority calls, fire safety inspections, community education, and proactive fire prevention programs. Our team of paid firefighters will be available on weekdays and will work closely with our dedicated volunteer fire services to deliver exceptional protection for our residents.
We invite all residents to join us in supporting this important initiative. Together, we can build a safer, stronger Plumstead Township. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved as we launch this vital service for our community.
Let's work together to make Plumstead Township a safer place for everyone!
