In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Perkasie Borough Police Department will be hosting a free suicide prevention training on May 13th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. within the conference room of our station at 311 S 9th Street, Perkasie PA 18944. The training is open to all individuals regardless of background, age, training, or education level. Our Community Relations Specialist, Chris Doheny, is a certified trainer of Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), an evidence-based training to assist everyday individuals in identifying suicide risk, persuading individuals to seek help, and referring to appropriate services and supports. Following the training there will also be a period for Q&A and discussion. If you are someone who has been impacted by suicide, or would like to acquire tools to address the risk of suicide in your community, please consider signing up for this opportunity. All attendees will also receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the training. If you would like to sign-up, please click here. If you have questions regarding the training or have difficulty signing up, please contact Chris at cdoheny@perkasiepd.org. In order to get credit for attendance, please list the full name you would like to see on your certificate for yourself and any other attendees you are signing up for. Registration is required as spaces are limited! *Please note that due to the nature of the training you may be exposed to some emotionally distressing or traumatic content. While the Community Relations Specialist will make all efforts to provide a trauma-informed training, individuals who recently experienced suicide or are uncertain if they will be able to handle a direct discussion of suicide may not wish to attend.
