Traffic Accident:
January 17, 2024, 9:11am Perkasie Borough Police responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on 5th Street in Perkasie Borough. A Jeep was backing out of a parking space when it backed into a Subaru that was waiting in the drive-thru line. There were no reported injuries and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
Fraud:
January 17, 2024, 9:10am A Perkasie Borough resident reported being a victim of a scam involving a stolen credit card and their Amazon account. As a result of the scam, commonly referred to as a "brushing scam", Amazon Fraud Department was contacted and to date, there has not been any monetary loss.
January 18, 2024, 1:17pm A Sellersville Borough resident reported she was a victim of a foreign stock investment scam. These scams are referred to as a "pump and dump",
January 19, 2024, 11:10am A Sellersville Borough resident reported being contacted by someone pretending to be from the Fraud Department of her bank. While placing her on hold multiple times, asking for the last 4 digits of her Social Security number and texting her "confirmation" codes she received legitimate emails from her actual bank's Fraud Department advising her someone just attempted to withdraw $2,100.00 from her account. To date, there has not been any monetary loss.
Assist to Fire Department Calls:
January 20, 2024, 8:31am Police responded to a carbon monoxide alarm in the 300 block of Washington Avenue in Sellersville Borough. The Sellersville Fire Department arrived on scene and determined the oil fueled hot water heater was malfunctioning and was turned off. No evacuation or injuries were reported.
January 21, 2024, 12:30am Perkasie Police were called to the 200 block of Parkridge Drive for the smell of burning wires. Perkasie Fire Department arrived and determined it was coming from a malfunctioning heater.
