We want to make our residents aware of a scam that has recently increased in our area.

Scammers are calling people and claiming they have missed jury duty or that there is a warrant out for their arrest. They then pressure victims to pay money immediately to avoid being arrested, often requesting payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or other unusual payment methods.

Please remember:

1. Legitimate law enforcement agencies and courts will not call and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest.
2. They will NEVER ask you to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other unconventional payment methods.
3. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not provide personal or financial information.
