Chief Karl Knott presented Officer Jeff Watson the following Merit Commendation at the Police Commission meeting on August 25, 2022.
On June 13, 2022, Officer Jeff Watson responded to West Butler Avenue in attempt to locate a stolen vehicle with three male suspects, possibly armed, who had attempted a carjacking in Doylestown Township and successfully carjacked a vehicle in Warrington Township where the victim was assaulted. While in route, Officer Watson was advised the vehicle had crashed into the building located at 95 West Butler Avenue, Chalfont Borough, and the suspects fled on foot. Several police departments responded to the area.
Upon arrival, Officer Watson noted one suspect had been taken into custody. He immediately began foot pursuit for the other two suspects. As Officer Watson approached the Fairview Avenue neighborhood, Officers were in the process of arresting a second suspect hiding beneath the deck of a residence. Officer Watson was advised the third suspect was in the area. Officer Watson continued his search to locate the third suspect and found him underneath a recreational vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence. Officer Watson ordered the suspect from underneath the vehicle and he was taken into custody without incident.
Officer Watson’s actions are a credit to himself and the Central Bucks Regional Police Department.
