ARRESTS
Theft of Services, March 3, 2023, Green Street, Doylestown Borough – Michael Kanter, M/55, Pipersville, PA, was charged with the above offense after the owner of a local business tried to cash a check for services rendered in December 2022 which was determined to be fraudulent. Mr. Kanter was arrested, arraigned and bail set at $3,500 unsecure. A Criminal Complaint was filed.
DUI, March 9, 2023, S. Main Street, Doylestown Borough – Andrew Brown, M/25, Warrington, PA, was charged with the above offense after police conducted a traffic stop. Upon contact with Brown, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed that Brown presented with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Brown was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. A Criminal Complaint was filed.
Public Drunkenness/Underage Drinking, March 12, 2023, Harvey Avenue, Doylestown Borough – James Taylor, M/20, Chalfont, PA, was cited for the above offenses after police witnessed him following and instigating an argument with a group of individuals in the middle of the street. When police approached Taylor, they immediately noticed his blood shot eyes, slurred speech and unsteady gate. The officers advised Taylor to go home. Taylor then approached another officer and began arguing with him and became aggressive. Taylor was taken into custody and EMS was called to evaluate him. He refused medical attention and was later released to a family member. Citations were issued.
Harassment, March 17, 2023, N. Franklin Street, Doylestown Borough – Kathleen Burns, F/72, and Patricia Vida, F/73, both from Doylestown, PA, were cited for the above offense after a domestic dispute. Citations were issued.
DUI, March 17, 2023, Veterans Lane, Doylestown Borough – Laura Korman, F/54, Doylestown, PA, was charged with the above offense after someone notified police that Korman was seen getting into her vehicle in a suspected intoxicated state. Police spotted her vehicle in a parking lot where they met and spoke with Korman. They immediately smelled an odor of alcohol and performed field sobriety tests. Korman was unable to complete them successfully and was taken into custody, transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood draw, processed and released. A Criminal Complaint was filed.
Simple Assault/Harassment, March 21, 2023, Mary Street, Doylestown Borough - Sydney Smith, F/25, of Doylestown was arrested on the above charges following police dispatch to a domestic disturbance. Police determined that a verbal argument turned physical when Smith struck the victim in the back of the head with her fist which was holding her cell phone. The victim suffered an injury to the back of the head. Smith was taken into custody, arraigned, bail set $25,000 unsecured with conditions, and released.
Theft, March 21, 2023, N. Main Street, Doylestown Borough - David Scott Murphy, M/57, of Doylestown was arrested on the above charges after police were dispatched to EZ Laundry in Doylestown for a report of a tip jar that was stolen. The owner provided surveillance video showing the individual walk up to the counter, reach in and take the bills from inside the jar, before placing the jar under their jacket and leaving. Officers were able to identify Murphy as the person in the video. They located Murphy at his residence and took him into custody where he was processed and released.
DUI, March 24, 2023, W. State Street, Doylestown Borough – Jennifer Smith, F/50, Doylestown, PA, was charged with the above offense after police responded to a traffic accident. Officers found Smith to be unsteady on her feet, presented with bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and had an odor of alcohol. Smith was unable to successfully complete field sobriety tests, was taken into custody and transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood draw. Smith was processed and released. A Criminal Complaint was filed.
Ordinance Violation, March 26, 2023, Route 611/Broad Street, Doylestown Borough – Devon Vogel, M/28, Lindenwold, NJ, was cited for the above offense after a traffic stop. During the stop it was discovered that Vogel had marijuana in the vehicle. A Citation was issued.
Ordinance Violation, March 28, 2023, Swamp Road/Creek Drive, Doylestown Borough – Richard Picciotti, M/41, Warminster, PA, was cited for the above offense following a traffic stop. While talking with police, Picciotti informed them that he had marijuana in the vehicle. A Citation was issued.
Assault/Harassment, March 30, 2023, Chapman Avenue, Doylestown Borough - John Spitzlei, M/57, of Doylestown was arrested on March 30, 2023, on the above charges after police were notified of a domestic disturbance that took place at a residence. The victim stated that they were pushed out of the home and then struck in the face by Spitzlei, causing visible facial injuries. Police went to the residence and took Spitzlei into custody. He was arraigned, bail set at 10% of $75,000 with conditions, and remanded to Bucks County Prison.
Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
CRIME AND OTHER INCIDENTS
Retail Theft, March 2, 2023, N. Main Street, Doylestown Borough (Rite Aid) – An unknown male walked through Rite Aid collecting items from the shelves, proceeded to place items in a bag and leave the store without paying. Value unknown.
