The South Heidelberg Township Police Department is proud to announce its participation in the Blue Envelope Program, a vital initiative designed to enhance communication and support for drivers with disabilities during traffic stops.
Participants will be provided with a Blue Envelope, which communicates to an officer during a traffic stop that the driver may have a disability, such as autism or other conditions that may cause anxiety or create communication challenges. The envelope provides helpful tips and information for both the driver and the police officer to help ensure the interaction is safe, effective, and positive for everyone involved.
The Blue Envelope should contain the operator's driver's license, vehicle registration, current insurance card, and emergency contact information for the driver.
We encourage drivers with disabilities, as well as their caregivers, to pick up a Blue Envelope at the South Heidelberg Township Police Department.
Together, let's work toward creating a safer and more compassionate community for everyone. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the Blue Envelope Program, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
