High-Visibility Traffic Enforcement Initiative Commences

On Tuesday, December 8th, SHPD successfully launched the inaugural phase of its newly established High-Visibility Traffic Enforcement Initiative.   This new program is designed to enhance traffic safety, deter reckless driving, and reduce the frequency of motor vehicle accidents within the jurisdiction SHPD.

The successful execution of this initial phase was overseen by Corporal Oxenford, who served as the officer in charge of the detail.   He reported the following information:

The South Heidelberg Police Department has responded to several recent motor vehicle accidents in the 100 block of Huntzinger Road Wernersville, PA 19565.  Vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit was a contributing factor in some of those motor vehicle accidents.  As a result, the South Heidelberg Police Department deployed its speed trailer in the 100 block of Huntzinger Road. Based upon data provided by the speed trailer, the South Heidelberg Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a speed enforcement detail on 12/10/2025 in the 100 block of Huntzinger Road. Below are highlights of the speed enforcement detail: 

• 3 vehicles were given a warning for exceeding the posted 30 MPH speed limit.
• 5 speeding citations were issued with a top speed of 52 MPH for exceeding the posted 30 MPH speed limit.
• 1 citation was issued for an operator driving without a valid license.
• 1 operator was arrested for an arrest warrant issued out of the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. 
  
  SHPD will continue to monitor speeding on Huntzinger Road and throughout our community.   SHPD is dedicated to making sustained progress toward our goal of achieving the safest roads for every citizen.
