All charges, including homicide and aggravated assault, in the matter of Commonwealth v. Mengqi Zang were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas of Armstrong County for prosecution following a nearly two and a half hour preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge James Andring. Zang is accused of stabbing and killing her mother-in-law, 79 year old Rosalind Cooper, inside Cooper's home in Gilpin Township, Armstrong County, on Sunday, June 28. Members of the victim's family, as well as investigators, and Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers, testified at the hearing on behalf of the Commonwealth. First Assistant Jordan Buzza handled the hearing on behalf of the Commonwealth.
