The Eastern Regional Mon Valley Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of children and parents awaiting school buses. As part of this initiative, our officers regularly monitor school bus stops to prevent potential hazards.
This morning, while observing the school bus stop at Bell Ave & Jones Ave, in North Braddock, one of our officers witnessed a vehicle disobey a posted stop sign. This dangerous moving violation posed a significant risk to the safety of small children in the area, who were waiting for buses and crossing streets.
The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and, during the interaction, the driver admitted to possessing drugs. As a result of this incident, a 34-year-old male is being charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, and the traffic violation.
We urge all motorists to exercise extreme caution and obey traffic laws, especially in areas where children are present. The safety of our community's youth is our top priority, and we will continue to work diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a secure environment for all.
