At 9:04 am, County 9-1-1 dispatched Bentwood Police to the 100 block of Hillson Avenue for a reported shooting. First responders discovered the victim, an adult male, suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Brentwood Police requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit and detectives initiated an investigation.
Detectives were able to identify 45-year-old Joseph Luman as a suspect in the shooting.
During the investigation, a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description was spotted in the area. Brentwood Police initiated a traffic stop and a brief pursuit occurred. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Route 51 and Route 88. An adult female, who was also determined to be a witness to the shooting, was driving the vehicle. She was detained. It was determined Luman was not in the vehicle.
Detectives are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Luman and multiple agencies are currently aiding in the search. If seen, do not approach and call 9-1-1.
