On September 6, 2017 the Adams County Sheriff's Office hired a new Chief Deputy, David S. Allison. Chief Deputy Allison brings over 26 years of law enforcement experience including fourteen years at the York County Sheriff's Office. “I’m excited to continue my law enforcement career in Adams County with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office”.

After serving as a municipal police officer from 1991-2003 with Jackson Township Police and Northern York County Regional Police, Chief Deputy Allison served at York County Sheriff's Office until accepting this new role at the Adams County Sheriff's Office. At YCSO, he worked his way through the ranks from deputy sheriff and earned promotions through the ranks of corporal, sergeant and, finally, up to lieutenant. A brief description of some of his duties as lieutenant include scheduling of personnel, payroll, internal investigations, discipline issues, oversight of supervisory subordinates and deputies, oversight of the warrant program, civil disorder unit, firearms program, the active shooter education and training program and assisting with the pre-employment process and background investigations. His experience also includes being a firearms instructor in multiple disciplines, ballistic shield instructor, specialty impact and chemical munitions instructor and several other instructorships. He, also, served several years on York County’s Fugitive Task Force. While serving as lieutenant, his primary function was to command the Office’s Criminal Response Unit (CRU). Some of the responsibilities of CRU are to conduct high visibility patrols in high crime areas of York City, assisting federal, state and local law enforcement and county agencies, civil disorder preparedness, warrant service, and an inmate work crew. Some members of the Unit also serve with York County’s U. S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force and the York County Drug Task Force.
