This quarter, we are proud to announce that multiple officers have been selected for the Officer of the Quarter recognition, each for outstanding and inspiring contributions.
On June 8th, Sergeant Will and Officer Doig responded to a critical incident involving a male suffering from a severe self-inflicted wound. Their swift, decisive action—applying a tourniquet and rendering life-saving first aid—undoubtedly saved the individual’s life. Their courage, composure, and teamwork exemplify the highest standards of service.
We also recognize Officer McCartney for his remarkable dedication to community outreach. On his own initiative, Officer McCartney created a custom coloring book featuring the Vestal Police Department, the Vestal Youth Police Academy (VYPA), K9 units, and patrol vehicles. He personally purchased crayons and supplies to distribute the books at the Vestal Festival—an exceptional act of goodwill and initiative that reflects his passion for public service.
As emphasized during yesterday’s awards presentation, the impact of our officers extends far beyond responding to in-progress crimes. Community policing remains one of the most rewarding and vital aspects of our work. We thank our officers for going above and beyond, and we thank the community for its continued support and engagement.
