POLICE CITIZEN'S ACADEMY HOSTED BY THE FT. LUPTON POLICE DEPARTMENT OPEN TO HUDSON RESIDENTS

Citizens Police Academy - Fall 2026 Program

The Fort Lupton Police Department is excited to announce its Citizens Police Academy, a 10-week program designed to deepen understanding of law enforcement and foster community partnerships.

This comprehensive program combines classroom presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences on various topics, including:

  • Hiring process
  • Police academy
  • Solo patrol officer knowledge
  • Traffic & DUI stops
  • Firearms training
  • Building searches
  • And more!

Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. starting on Wednesday, August 19th, and finishing on Wednesday, October 21st.

Who can attend? Applicants must:

  • Live within the City of Fort Lupton, Town of Hudson, or Town of Keenesburg
  • Be 18 years of age or older

Each applicant will undergo a criminal background check due to the sensitive nature of the access given to attendees. Application for the summer/fall program is now open. 20 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • 15 participants from Fort Lupton
  • 5 participants from Hudson
  • 5 participants from Keenesburg
