Incident Summary

On 02/17/26, during traffic enforcement on I-76, Officers observed a red Ford Mustang (CO: DRN-X19) and a black Chevrolet Corvette (CO: VALSVET) traveling eastbound near mile marker 30, allegedly engaging in a speed contest. Both vehicles were estimated to be exceeding 105 MPH and were side by side when they passed the Officer.

A traffic stop was conducted on both vehicles, and the drivers were identified as a 34-year-old male and a 51-year-old female. The male driver, who had two minor children in the vehicle, was issued a summons for two counts of child abuse and participating in a speed contest. The female driver was issued a summons for participating in a speed contest.

The mother of the children in the vehicle responded to the scene and was provided with a VRA pamphlet. The Hudson Police Department's Victim Advocate was notified, and a referral was completed to Weld County Human Services (CPS) for the incident.
