On 03/01/2026, Hudson PD responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-76, westbound lanes, at mile marker 33. The driver of a silver Infinity G35, a 35-year-old male, fell asleep at the wheel and struck the cable barriers separating the two sides of the interstate before coming to rest in a nearby field. The driver and passenger were uninjured.
While officers were enroute to the scene, a white Chevy Equinox, traveling eastbound on I-76, struck debris left by the initial crash. The impact caused the driver to lose control, and the vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate. The collision also punctured the gas tank, resulting in a vehicle fire. Fortunately, all four occupants were able to exit the vehicle before it was fully engulfed and were uninjured.
The eastbound lanes of I-76 were briefly closed to allow fire crews to extinguish the fire and clean up the roadway. The driver of the Infinity was issued a summons for careless driving. Both vehicles were privately towed from the scene.
