On Thursday, August 27, 2026, a traffic stop was conducted on a Freightliner tractor-trailer on Quarry Road near Morgan Way in Caernarvon Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The operator, a 35-year-old male, was identified as Todd Dwayne DAWSON. The stop was initiated due to the vehicle exceeding the permitted length for travel on Quarry Road.
During the stop, the officer detected the odor of burnt and raw marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the cab was conducted, with negative results. However, a plastic bag labeled "Beam Me Up" containing marijuana was found behind the defendant after he attempted to discard it. The defendant was taken into custody and transported to Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center for an evaluation.
The evaluation revealed signs of impairment consistent with the ingestion of marijuana, and the defendant admitted to throwing the bag containing marijuana behind him. The defendant refused to submit to a blood draw and was subsequently transported to the Berks County Central Processing Center.
A field test of the marijuana returned a positive result. The defendant is facing charges related to the incident. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
