New Kensington, PA -- A Philadelphia man was arrested by New Kensington Police after officers found methamphetamine on him following a routine traffic stop.
On August 14, 2026, New Kensington Police officers were on routine patrol near Freeport Road when they noticed a vehicle operating without an illuminating brake light.
While officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, they noticed a passenger in the backseat ducking down.
The driver was compliant and identified his passenger as his girlfriend and a male in the back he only knew by his first name of "Devin".
The backseat passenger was later identified as Tazmin Willis, of Kittanning.
The driver told police he was transporting the male in the backseat from a store back to Armstrong County.
The driver gave police consent to the search the vehicle as the occupants were asked to exit the vehicle.
As police detained Willis, they noticed a glass pipe protruding from the pocket of his pants which contained a crystallized white residue on the pipe.
A subsequent search of Willis led to the discovery of several bags of a crystalline substance, a bag containing a gel substance, and a small bag containing a white powdery substance.
Preliminary field tests of the crystalline substance yielded a positive result for methamphetamine, according to police.
Investigators said the packaging and quantity of methamphetamine indicated it was packaged to be delivered and sold.
Willis was taken into custody and charged with drug delivery and drug possession charges.
He was remanded to the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $100,000 bail.
