Newtown Celebrates America 250

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with an action-packed day of exciting and educational events throughout Newtown. The day will include a Revolutionary-era skirmish outside the Bird in Hand, an Edward Hicks reenactor at Newtown Friends Meeting House, a Civil War band at the Newtown Theatre, a reenactment of the Doan Gang’s robbery of the Bucks County Treasury, historical displays at the Half-Moon Inn (Court Inn), antique fire trucks and equipment at the Newtown Fire House Museum, lobby exhibits at the First National Bank & Trust Company, Hessian prisoners and graveyard tours at the Old Presbyterian Church, and more!
 
 
There will be extra pedestrian traffic in the around Newtown Borough.  Motorist are asked to be aware of pedestrians in the crosswalk and use caution. Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place so allow extra time.

BEGINNING AT 7:00 AM

~ NO PARKING ON SOUTH STATE STREET BETWEEN PENN STREET AND CENTRE AVENUE ON BOTH SIDES ( NO PARKING SIGNS POSTED )

~ NO PARKING ON COURT STREET BETWEEN PENN STREET AND CENTRE AVENUE ( NO PARKING SIGNS POSTED )

ROAD CLOSURES:

BEGINNING AT 9:00 AM

~ SOUTH STATE STREET BETWEEN CENTRE AVENUE AND SOUTH CHANCELLOR STREET ~ 9:00am to 12:30pm

~ COURT STREET BETWEEN CENTRE AVENUE AND PENN STREET ~ 9:00am-3:30pm

PLEASE NOTE:

Motorist are asked to use Sycamore Street to enter Newtown Borough.

CENTRE AVENUE BRIDGE WILL BE OPEN FOR TRAFFIC

WASHINGTON AVENUE BRIDGE WILL BE OPEN FOR TRAFFIC

LOCAL BUSINESSES WILL BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS

THE NEWTOWN BOROUGH MUNICIPAL PARKING LOTS WILL BE OPEN FOR THE EVENT AND LOCAL BUSINESSES.
