On June 18, 2026 at approximately 2255 hours an officer on patrol in the 6600 block of Sullivan Trail conducted a traffic stop for observed violations. Contact was made with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Barry Werkheiser. The officer observed signs of impairment and learned Werkheiser did not possess a valid driver's license. Werkheiser was requested to a submit to field sobriety exercises which he agreed to do and additional signs of impairment were observed. Werkheiser was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to the County DUI Center for processing. Werkheiser was requested to submit to a chemical test which he agreed to. Lab results were later received and Werkheiser's BAC on the night in question was 0.176% ethanol. As a result of the investigation charges were filed through District Court.
