On June 17, 2026, the Susquehanna Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a joint traffic enforcement detail at various locations throughout Susquehanna Township. The focus of the enforcement initiative was compliance with Pennsylvania's "Paul Miller Law" and the state's "Move Over Law."
The Paul Miller Law makes it a primary offense for a driver to use an Interactive Mobile Device (IMD) while operating a motor vehicle. The Move Over Law requires motorists approaching an emergency response area, disabled vehicle, or maintenance operation displaying activated emergency or warning lights to move into a non-adjacent lane when safe to do so. If changing lanes is not possible, motorists must significantly reduce their speed.
This initiative reflects a coordinated, multi-agency effort to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities through high-visibility enforcement and proactive community education. By working closely with local and state partners, the Susquehanna Township Police Department remains committed to promoting safe driving behaviors and enhancing roadway safety for all motorists, first responders, roadside workers, and community members.
