CONVICTED CONGRESS STREET MURDERER FREDERICK CAMEJO - SUPREME COURT DENIES HIS REQUEST FOR APPEAL

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: June 16, 2026): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer announces that the Bradford man convicted of murdering another man on Congress Street has had his latest appeal attempts denied.

By order dated May 27th, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has denied the latest appeal request by convicted murderer Frederick CAMEJO.

CAMEJO was convicted after a jury trial in September, 2024 of the 2022 Memorial Day Weekend murder of another man on a sidewalk on Congress Street in Bradford.

Following his conviction, CAMEJO appealed his conviction to the Pennsylvania Superior Court but, by order dated December 24, 2025, the Superior Court affirmed his conviction.

CAMEJO remains incarcerated in state prison following the Judge’s imposition of his sentence following his conviction.

MURDER CONVICTION OF CONGRESS STREET MAN UPHELD

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: December 30, 2025): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that the appeals’ court has affirmed the conviction of convicted murderer Frederick CAMEJO, Jr.  By opinion dated December 24, 2025, the Pennsylvania Superior Court issued its opinion affirming the conviction of CAMEJO in the 2022 murder of Edward Fomby, Jr. on Congress Street in Bradford. On the night of the murder, CAMEJO’s family member called 911 to report that CAMEJO and Fomby were involved in a verbal disagreement outside of the CAMEJO residence.  The 911 call and home surveillance videos captured the moment of the shooting.  Testimony included what witnesses and home video captured at the time of the murder including witness/evidence of statements by CAMEJO including declaring, “you’re dead now B…h” immediately after firing the fatal shots into the back of Fomby as Fomby turned and walked away from CAMEJO. CAMEJO was convicted at a jury trial in September, 2024 of Murder in the 3rd Degree, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure and three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (deadly weapon enhancement).

CAMEJO CONVICTED OF MURDER IN THE 3RD DEGREE

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: September 19, 2024):  District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a four-day jury trial at the McKean County Courthouse, Frederick Camejo, Jr. was convicted of crimes related to the killing of Edward “Bo” Fomby, Jr. over Memorial Day weekend in 2022.

Camejo was charged by City of Bradford Police after police were called to CAMEJO’S residence on Congress Street on May 29th, 2022 after CAMEJO shot and killed Fomby in front of his home after the pair, along with others, came to the residence for an “after party” after frequenting area bars.

City of Bradford Officer Patrick Caskey was the first on-scene.  Sgt Jason Daugherty, Officer Blake Taylor, and City of Ambulance EMS Evan Piganelli and Zachary Harten responded.  Fomby was found deceased on the sidewalk, laying on his back.

Officers learned that CAMEJO shot FOMBY on the steps leading to his porch and the home had surveillance footage that captured video - but not audio - of the crime.

Chief Michael Ward, Chief County Detective Ryan Yingling, Officer Joshua Frederoski, Officer Jordan McCalla, Officer Shaun McDonald, Lt. Ray Douglas, Officer Andrew Szafran, members of the Pennsylvania State Police and DA Vettenburg-Shaffer responded to the scene to perform interviews and execute a search warrant.  Chief Yingling and Sgt. Daugherty obtained the home’s surveillance system.

The State Police forensics unit responded to process the scene and Fomby’s body was removed by coroner Michael Cahill and Deputy Coroner Marty Henneman.

While on scene, Officers viewed a disturbance to the front of a house across the street from the CAMEJO residence and located a bullet inside that residence that entered when CAMEJO was shooting his firearm over the head of FOMBY.

Officers were able to obtain audio of the crime from a neighbor’s security camera and requested the services of the FBI, Magloclen, Blair Technologies and Ralph Brooks to enhance the audio to capture the statements made by CAMEJO and Fomby.

Video showed that CAMEJO fired his firearm 10 times throughout the entire encounter – 6 times directly at FOMBY, hitting him 4 times on his backside – three in his back and one in the back of his leg. CAMEJO told Officers he killed FOMBY in self-defense.  Video showed FOMBY was shot in the back as he was walking away from CAMEJO.

CAMEJO was charged with the crime of Criminal Homicide, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure and three counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

DA Vettenburg-Shaffer: “The crime of Criminal Homicide is a general umbrella category of Homicide that includes Murder in the 1st Degree, Murder in the 2nd Degree, Murder in the 3rd Degree, Voluntary Manslaughter and Involuntary Manslaughter.  In this case, Murder in the 2nd degree was not applicable.  The jury had to first consider whether Murder in the 1st Degree (or premeditated murder) occurred and then go through each type of Homicide until it came to a verdict on the type of Homicide that occurred.  The jury found CAMEJO committed Murder in the 3rd degree (killing someone with malice).”

In addition to Murder in the 3rd degree; CAMEJO was convicted of all other counts charged - Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure and three Counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (Deadly Weapon Used enhancement).

Following the verdict, the Judge set CAMEJO’s bail at $500,000 and set sentencing for October 29th.

Chief Michael Ward and Officer Joshua Frederoski were the charging officers on the case.  District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
