HANG UP OR PAY UP — IT'S NOW THE LAW IN PENNSYLVANIA

🚨 IMPORTANT TRAFFIC LAW UPDATE – EFFECTIVE TODAY 🚨

Paul Miller's Law is now in FULL ENFORCEMENT in Pennsylvania – June 5, 2026

Attention South Lebanon Township residents and all Pennsylvania drivers: the one-year warning period for Paul Miller's Law has ended, and starting today, police can issue fines to drivers caught using handheld mobile devices behind the wheel.

What the law means for you:

Holding or using a hand-held device while driving is illegal — even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other delays.

Drivers convicted of a violation will pay a $50 fine, plus court costs and other fees.

What IS still allowed: Drivers can still use their phones to alert authorities in the event of an emergency, and use hands-free technology to make phone calls, use GPS, and listen to music.

The story behind the law: In 2010, a distracted tractor-trailer driver reached for a phone, crossed a divider on Route 33, and crashed into 21-year-old Paul Miller's vehicle, killing him. His mother, Eileen Miller, spent more than a decade fighting for stronger distracted driving laws.

Put the phone down. It's not worth it.
