Dedication of Barry Dozor Park

Marple Township warmly invites all residents to attend a special renaming and dedication ceremony to be held on:

Tuesday, June 9, 2026 | 7:00 PM

New Ardmore Avenue Park (located on S New Ardmore Ave)

At this ceremony, the Township will officially rename and dedicate New Ardmore Avenue Park as Barry Dozor Park, in lasting honor of the Honorable Barry C. Dozor, who passed away suddenly on August 23, 2025, at the age of 76.

About the Honorable Barry C. Dozor

Barry Charles Dozor was born on May 23, 1949, in Philadelphia and spent much of his life in service to the communities of Delaware County — none more so than Marple Township.

He served on the Marple Township Board of Commissioners for 18 years, from 1984 to 2002, championing libraries, parks, and public safety, and earning the deep respect of residents and colleagues alike. During that same period, he built a distinguished legal career as a partner in the law firm of Dozor & Auslander in Collingdale — a Delaware County institution for 26 years — and served as municipal solicitor for Prospect Park, Norwood, Collingdale, and Tinicum Township, as well as solicitor for the Marple Township Zoning Hearing Board.

In December 2001, Governor Tom Ridge appointed Judge Dozor to the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, where he went on to serve with distinction for more than 23 years across the civil, criminal, and family divisions of the court. He was elected to his first full 10-year term in 2003, reelected in 2013, and again in 2023. Known for his calm, fair, and thoughtful manner, he earned the trust and admiration of everyone who appeared before him.

Judge Dozor was a true public servant in every sense of the word — a neighbor, a counselor, a commissioner, and a judge who gave decades of his life to the people of this community. It is only fitting that a park — a place where families gather and children play — bear his name as a permanent tribute to the extraordinary life he led and the legacy he leaves behind.
