On May 11, 2026, at 8:09 PM, Lancaster City Police officers responded to the 300 block of S. Queen St. for multiple reports of shots fired in the area. Through the investigation, officers learned that shots were exchanged between two males walking in the area and a third male operating an electric scooter. Officers were able to obtain video footage of the three males involved.
At 8:40 PM, Lancaster County Sheriff's Deputies observed two of the suspects in the area of Lincoln St. and N. Water St. Police officers and Sheriff's Deputies attempted to stop the two males, but both fled on foot. One of the males discarded a backpack, and he was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. The male was identified as Arkie Gillis. The backpack contained two Glock-style ghost guns, one of which was equipped with an extended magazine.
As a result of this investigation, Ofc. Thornton charged Arkie Gillis with two counts of Possession of a Firearm Prohibited (F2) and two counts of Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License (F3).
The investigation into the original shots fired incident remains ongoing.
