A judge sentenced a Manor Township woman to five to 10 years in state prison after she pleaded guilty earlier this year of committing a series of crimes in East Lampeter Township in 2022, including leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase and selling deadly drugs from a hotel room.

Judge Dennis Reinaker handed down the sentence to Courtney Lynn Futty on April 6. Futty, of the 100 block of Hershey Mill Road, had pleaded guilty in January to flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing and eluding, recklessly endangering another person, two counts of possession with intent to distribute and a single count of retail theft, among other offenses.

Futty, 34, committed the offenses in East Lampeter Township during a four-month stretch in early 2022, beginning with a dangerous high-speed chase from police through a residential neighborhood in February of that year.

Officers responding to a report of Futty passed out and possibly overdosed in a car in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Lincoln Highway East arrived to find that she had woken up and was speeding away from them. Futty, under the influence of drugs and with multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest at the time, continued to speed away through a private driveway despite officers’ attempts to pull her over.

Throughout the chase officers observed Futty ignoring road signs, crossing into the lane of oncoming traffic and driving on the wrong side of the road throughout a residential neighborhood, endangering nearby pedestrians. At one point during the chase Futty nearly struck another vehicle near a school bus that was dropping off several children.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed Futty later abandoning her vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Months later in May 2022, Lancaster County Drug Task Force detectives arrested Futty at the conclusion of a five-month investigation for selling meth at a hotel in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway. Throughout the course of the investigation multiple confidential informants made controlled purchase of drugs from Futty’s hotel room, observing meth inside the room on one instance.

Detectives who executed a search warrant on Futty’s hotel room discovered more than 25 grams of meth and 91 bags of heroin containing more than 5 grams of fentanyl. Futty admitted to detectives to selling the drugs.

In another incident in April 2024 Futty was seen switching the price tags on clothing and concealing her items in a shopping cart while using the self-checkout at a Walmart in the 2000 block of Lincoln Highway East. When confronted by the store’s loss prevention team Futty admitting to not paying the full amount she owed and to switching price tags on merchandise.

Assistant District Attorney Sarah Hansen prosecuted the case.

East Lampeter Township Police Det. Christopher Jones and Officers Gregory Dolk and Olivia Mauro filed the charges.
