The Caernarvon Township Police Department is seeking a professional, organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Police Administrative Assistant. This position plays a vital role in supporting daily police operations by providing administrative, clerical, and records management support while handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Position Overview
The Police Administrative Assistant manages office communications, processes reports and records, coordinates scheduling, and assists with departmental documentation and data entry. This position supports law enforcement personnel by ensuring administrative tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and route incoming calls, take messages, and respond appropriately to inquiries or urgent situations
- Receive complaints from the public and assist with directing or resolving non-emergency matters
- Process police reports, citations, court dispositions, and expungement documents
- Maintain organized files, records, and databases related to police operations
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and documentation for the Chief of Police and department personnel
- Coordinate court scheduling for department officers
- Manage office supplies and process departmental purchase orders
- Maintain personnel, training, and administrative records
- Process false alarm violations and related correspondence
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, including certified mail
- Assist with NCIC records management and criminal record access systems
- Maintain department databases and assist with minor computer/network issues
- Prepare monthly and annual reports for departmental administration
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or Sergeant
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s degree preferred)
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy with data entry and records
- Previous administrative experience preferred (law enforcement or public service experience is a plus)

Monday – Friday
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salary
Starting $50,000.00 starting – negotiable.
