Employee Spotlight: Lieutenant Preston Gentzler
This month we are proud to highlight Lieutenant Preston Gentzler, whose dedication to service and commitment to the Lancaster County community spans over 27 years.
Lieutenant Gentzler grew up in Ephrata and graduated from Ephrata High School before continuing his education at Penn State University, where he earned an Associate’s Degree. He has worked in law enforcement for 27 years, of which 26 years were with the East Lampeter Township Police Department.
In 2003, Preston became the department’s first School Resource Officer in the Conestoga Valley School District, serving students and staff from 2003 to 2006. His work helped build strong relationships between law enforcement and the school community.
Preston has served in the Detective Division for 18 years, working in a variety of specialized roles. During that time, he has collaborated with regional and federal partners, including serving with the Lancaster County Computer Crimes Unit and as a Task Force Officer with the FBI. Preston was promoted to Detective Sergeant in 2018, and most recently to Lieutenant in 2024 where he is leading through experience.

Outside of work, Preston enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, including his wife, two daughters, and their two dogs. He is also an avid sports fan who enjoys watching Penn State football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Thank you, Lieutenant Gentzler, for your years of service, leadership, and commitment to the East Lampeter Township community.
