The Hanover Borough Police Department extends it condolences to the family and friends of Retired Hanover Police Chief Gerald M. Lippy, who passed away on December 30, 2025. Chief Lippy started his career with the department on January 3, 1967. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1974 and Detective Sergeant in 1975. Detective Sergeant Lippy attended the FBI National Academy in 1986 and became Chief of Police in 1988 during which time he was instrumental in advancing technology by bringing computers into the department. Chief Lippy retired from the department on December 31, 2004. Rest easy Sir!
