A Lititz man charged with firing a gun into his neighbor’s home as he was cleaning the still-loaded weapon will have his case proceed to county court after waiving his preliminary hearing last month.
Jason M. Paulin, 48, waived his preliminary hearing before Judge Joseph Stauffer on Oct. 31 on charges of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person.
Paulin is accused of firing the handgun at his residence in the 700 block of Keller Drive the morning of Oct. 9. Paulin told police he was wiping down the loaded weapon around 9 a.m. when it suddenly discharged, causing a bullet to fly through his window.
As officers were investigating the scene they discovered that a neighbor’s glass storm door and main door had also been damaged by the discharged bullet. At least one person was inside the neighboring home at the time the gun went off.
Police found the still-loaded weapon inside Paulin’s bedroom.
Paulin is currently free on $20,000 unsecured bail.
Lititz Borough Police Officer Cameron Burke filed the charges.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
