A Caernarvon Township man charged with possessing more than 100 pictures and videos depicting child pornography will have his case proceed to county court after waiving his preliminary hearing last week.
Antonio Hernandez, 57, waived his preliminary hearing before Judge Raymond Sheller on July 25 on charges of disseminating photos of child sex acts, possession of child sexual abuse material and two counts of criminal use of a communication facility.
Hernandez is accused of storing the images on multiple electronic devices he kept in his home in the 200 block of California Road.
Detectives in Berks County began investigating Hernandez in April 2024 after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a social media account using an IP address later traced back to him had transmitted multiple images depicting child pornography.
Police executed a search warrant at Hernandez’s residence in May 2025, recovering a phone, laptop, thumb drives and external hard drives that were found to contain more than 100 images and videos depicting child pornography.
Speaking to police, Hernandez denied using the social media account that had transmitted child pornography and that he had ever seen or possessed child pornography.
Hernandez is currently free on $50,000 unsecured bail.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nicholas Cortese filed the charges.
Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick will prosecute the case.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
