NCPD Arrests Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run

The North Charleston Police Department's Traffic Unit arrested 24-year-old Chemar Ny'Zell Washington of Jamestown on Wednesday morning in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred shortly after midnight on June 19. The incident took place at the intersection of Otranto Road and Emmie Street, where investigators say Washington was driving at a high speed when he allegedly struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

Washington faces charges of leaving the scene of a collision with death and reckless homicide. He has been booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
