On June 27th, Gabriel Kolasa and Emily Zaharia graduated from the Reading Police Academy and just hours later, were sworn in by Mayor Samantha Kaag as the newest officers of the West Reading Police Department.

Graduating the academy is no easy task. It requires discipline, grit, and a strong commitment to serve. Both officers have shown those traits from day one, and we’re proud to officially welcome them to the WRPD family.

They’ll now begin their field training and start meeting the community they’re here to protect. If you see them out and about, we encourage you to say hello - your support means more than you know as they take on this new chapter.
