NOTABLE POLICE ACTIVITY
On Saturday, June 7th 2025 at approximately 4:00 P.M., the Dunbarton Police Department received a complaint of an ATV illegally riding on the roadway and performing wheelies in the area of Mansion Road and Stark Lane. The responding Dunbarton Police Officer located the ATV in the area a short time later. While attempting to make contact with the operator, the ATV fled at a high rate of speed towards the Hopkinton-Everett OHRV Park (“Hop-Ev”).
The officer located the ATV in the Hop-Ev parking lot a short time later. With the assistance of Weare Police Officers, the operator of the ATV, subsequently identified as Gary Gil, 20, Lawrence, MA, was taken into custody for driving or operating under the influence of drugs or liquor, operating an OHRV on a public way, operating an unregistered OHRV, and disobeying a police officer. Gil was later bailed and released to a sober adult. He is scheduled to be arraigned in the 6th Circuit - District Division - Concord later this month.
Around the time of taking Gil into custody, officers were confronted with a large agitated group of other riders. While Dunbarton and Weare Officers were heavily outnumbered and attempting to manage the crowd, Juan Serrano, 36, Lowell, MA and Nayla Cortes Santos, 39, Lowell, MA were both taken into custody by officers on scene. Serrano was charged with resisting arrest or detention, obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct. Cortes Santos was charged with resisting arrest or detention, simple assault, and obstructing government administration. Both individuals were processed on scene and released with arraignment dates in the 6th Circuit - District Division - Concord in July.
We will be further coordinating with our law enforcement partners to adequately address illegal and unsafe behaviors in and around the Hop-Ev. For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, we would like to take this opportunity to remind those who use the park to abide by all OHRV laws and rules.
