The Lancaster County Drug Task Force arrested a Columbia man earlier this month who was found with more than $294,000 in cocaine and marijuana as a result of a joint investigation with Homeland Security Investigations.
Roderick Gonzalez-Perez was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Drug Task Force arrested Gonzalez-Perez during a search warrant at his residence in the 800 block of Blunston Street on Oct. 4.
Investigators had been surveilling the property since Oct. 1 after a package from Puerto Rico containing more than five kilograms of cocaine bound for Gonzalez-Perez’s house and addressed to a “Senior Perez” was seized in transit. DTF and Homeland Security Investigations began a joint investigation at that time.
Drug Task Force agents removed the cocaine from the package and delivered it to Gonzalez-Perez’s home. DTF arrested Gonzalez-Perez without incident and proceeded to execute a search warrant at the residence when he retrieved the package. Columbia Borough police assisted in the arrest and execution of the search warrant.
Another search warrant executed on Gonzalez-Perez’s vehicle parked outside the residence uncovered an additional 888 grams of cocaine and 1,137 grams of marijuana.
Columbia Borough police recovered a second package at Gonzalez-Perez’s residence on Oct. 7. A search and seizure warrant executed on the package revealed that it contained about two kilograms of cocaine.
In total, 8.1 kilograms of cocaine valued at $283,500, 1,137 grams of marijuana valued at $11,370 and $1,161 in cash were recovered during the search warrants.
Judge Michael Hess set Gonzalez-Perez’s bail at $500,000. Gonzalez-Perez remains in Lancaster County Prison.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
