A Dauphin County Jury convicted Bryan Perry, Jr., of kidnapping, aggravated assault, intimidation of a witness, strangulation, and other charges on August 14, 2024, following a three-day trial. The jury found that on September 2, 2023, Perry took Tednika McWhite hostage from 2228 Logan Street in Harrisburg for three hours while he drove her to secluded spots around Harrisburg. During that time, he punched, choked, and bit her. When she attempted to exit the vehicle, he pulled her hair with such force that her hair came out of her scalp.
Perry told McWhite that he was taking her to Baltimore and that she would never return home. However, she eventually managed to escape when Perry stopped to refuel at a city gas station. McWhite reported these events to police a few hours later. Officers from the Harrisburg Bureau of Police responded to that call and documented McWhite’s account.
“The good work of the Harrisburg Police recording Tednika McWhite’s injuries and account of the assault was the foundation for success in this case,” said Senior Deputy District Attorney Scott Robinette. During the trial, the jury also heard recorded phone calls showing Perry attempting to tamper with witnesses and manufacture false evidence.
President Judge Scott Arthur Evans scheduled sentencing for November 14, 2024. Perry is currently being held at the Dauphin County Prison pending sentencing.
