South Greensburg, PA -- Westmoreland County Detectives filed charges against a Mount Pleasant Township woman accused of stealing money from her employer's lottery machine.
Kimberly Morris was charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
Over the past several months, detectives have been investigating Morris for allegedly pocketing $100,000 worth of instant lottery tickets from a machine where she works.
The owner of Falbo's Pizzeria in South Greensburg was alerted to discrepancies with the lottery machine in 2019.
The business contacted detectives in December of 2023 that weekly audits of the Pennsylvania Lottery machine revealed deficiencies in instant game tickets.
The victim told detectives that the deficiencies would range from several hundred dollars to several thousand on a weekly basis.
Morris allegedly oversaw and monitored the lottery machine at the business from 2018 to 2020 and typically worked a shift where she was unsupervised.
During a review of account statements related to Falbo's Pizzeria lottery account, detectives discovered that the owner of the business deposited more than $102,000 of her personal funds into the account to satisfy the loss.
Morris allegedly told detectives that because she was an administrator of the machine, she was able to play the instant games without paying for the tickets she was receiving.
Morris was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
