Starting tonight, Friday, April 5, 2024, officers from the Locust Township Police Department will be out with increased patrols all weekend. In addition to making sure everyone is being safe and respecting landowners' rules, officers will be engaged in the enforcement of the PA laws that regulate the consumption of alcoholic beverages. This includes being on the lookout for individuals who are under the age of 21 and who may consuming alcohol. In addition to enforcing the law prohibiting underage drinking, officers will investigate and prosecute those who supplied the alcohol to minors.
During your annual "trout camps", gathering at local fishing locations, campgrounds, and travels, it is not okay for parents, family members, other adults, to provide alcoholic beverages to those under 21 years of age.
From the www.drugfree.org website, "Alcohol is the most widely used substance among teens and young adults, and it poses substantial health and safety risks. Although young people tend to drink less often than adults do, when they do drink, they frequently drink more or more intensely compared to the average adult. That’s because young people consume more than 90% of their alcohol by binge drinking" .
Please make your trout seasoner opener a fun and safe event, without underage drinking.
Good luck to everyone fishing and out enjoying the beautiful Roaring Creek Valley and beyond!
