On February 4, 2024 at 7:26 pm the Oxford Police were dispatched to the 200 Blk Maple Street for a report of a theft discovered.  The victim stated that a male who was staying in his house had stolen approximately $600 while the victim slept.  The male, Anthony Johnson, 24, of Oxford, was located at a residence on South Street and questioned about the alleged theft.  Johnson admitted to taking the money and providing approximately $110 to a female companion.  Officers were able to recover $100 of the stolen money and returned it to the victim.  After receiving a written statement and conformation from the victim that they wanted to proceed with prosecution, criminal charges were filed.  A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 7, 2024 at the Oxford District Court.
