On Tuesday March 26th, 2024, Lower Chichester Township Police Officers observed a black Honda CRV, traveling south bound on Market St, that they had previously received an alert through our License Plate Reader (LPR), as a vehicle with an expired registration. After confirming the information received from the LPR, Officers did conduct a traffic stop on the 1300 block of Market St.
Immediately upon making contact with the operator, the odor of bunt marijuana could be detected from inside the vehicle. Upon a closer look, contact Officers noticed paraphernalia in plain view within the passenger compartment. Once the operator was asked to step out of the vehicle, a clear glass mason jar containing a leafy green substance was located inside the vehicle, and in the control of the operator, along with a metal marijuana "grinder," which also contained a similar leafy green substance.
The operator was placed under arrest, processed and subsequently released. Further investigation into the expired license plate revealed that it had actually been registered to another Honda product, however, not the vehicle in which it was being displayed. The vehicle was also void of any valid PA inspection stickers.
It should be noted that the leafy green substance, was later field tested and the results were positive for marijuana (THC).
