On March 25th, 2024 at 12:56 hours, SRPD received an assault call at the Marietta Post Office. It was reported that a postal worker was assaulted and lying behind the counter bleeding. Upon arrival, officers found the victim dazed and confused with facial injuries. The suspect, James Gordon Moore, was still on scene and arrested without incident. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Moore was upset about a package not being delivered and according to the victim, Moore jumped over the counter and punched the victim in the head several times before being knocked unconscious. Moore was charged with Aggravated Assault and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael D. Hess. Moore was $200,000 bail and transported to Lancaster County Prison.
