Harrisburg's Downtown Improvement District is hosting the St. Patrick's Day parade this year on Saturday, March 16th starting at 2pm. The parade will start on the Market Street Bridge, turning on Second Street, where it will continue until turning left on North Street and traveling along Front Street, meeting up again on the Market Street Bridge. The parade will feature an assortment of entertainment including an authentic Irish pipe and drum band, Irish dance groups, floats, local bands, fire trucks, animals, famous characters, and much more. If you're feeling athletic, the Lucky Charm 4-mile race starts before the parade, at noon. Those interested can sign up here. Awards for various age groups will be given starting at 1pm.
Streets will be closed to traffic in downtown Harrisburg starting at 9am through 4pm for both the parade and the Lucky Charm Harrisburg. A map of street closures can be found here. Parade participants and race runners will be able to access and park on City Island via the West Shore entrance to the Market Street Bridge.
Parking on the island is for Lucky Charm runners and parade participants ONLY. Event spectators will be directed to park at the Market Square Garage at 34 S. 2nd St., Harrisburg, PA 17101 for $10 all-day special event parking. Free metered street parking is available for four hours on Saturday by downloading the Parkmobile app using the code “LUVHBG” at checkout. Free parking is also available after 5pm in the downtown district.
