Murrysville, PA -- A woman who ran her own house cleaning business is facing criminal charges for allegedly taking jewelry belonging to several clients.
Murrysville Police, in cooperation with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, charged Holly Simpson, of Export, with theft and receiving stolen property.
The first victim reported the theft to police in May of 2023.
Simpson was hired as a cleaning lady for the Murrysville homeowners and cleaned their house on at least three occasions.
The victims noticed upwards of $30,000 worth of jewelry missing from their home.
Police said they found pieces of jewelry were sold to two Monroeville pawn shops in April and May.
A second victim came forward and reported a theft from her Murrysville residence in early June.
Detectives said the victim initially reported three pieces of jewelry were missing but found more pieces of stolen jewelry on a pawn shop’s website that belonged to her.
Police said Simpson had been cleaning the victim’s house for four or five years.
Simpson told police she bought back some of the jewelry from the pawn shop to mail back to the Murrysville homeowners.
Murrysville Police intercepted the package from USPS and delivered it to the victim, however, not all of the jewelry was recovered.
Simpson was arraigned on both cases and was released on her own recognizance.
